It’s no secret that in the last decade, consumer interest in menswear and male fashion has absolutely skyrocketed. So much so, in fact, that despite only accounting for 27% of the total clothing market, the UK menswear sector saw a 2.8% growth in 2016, reaching highs of £14.5bn. More impressive still, a report by market research provider Mintel revealed that it is growing at more than twice the rate of the women’s clothing market, and will continue to grow for years to come.

With the arrival of London Fashion Week, 2018 got off to a great start. Here at Centre Front, we watched on in awe and pride as our city showcased a wealth of diversity across over 100 events, presentations and parties, proving once more that London truly is the fashion capital of the world.

Of particular note, many world-famous designers showcased collections centred around velvet and corduroy, with a heavy emphasis on a vintage aesthetic. As predicted, we also saw an increase in voluminous trousers, oversized coats and chunky knitwear, as attention seems to be drawing further away from skinnier, sleeker silhouettes.
